Annual Leave Rules in Turkey
Legal requirements in Turkey for holidays and paid annual leave.
In Turkey, most employees are entitled to paid annual leave as stipulated by the Labour Law No. 4857. According to Article 53 of this law, employees are entitled to a minimum of 14 days of paid annual leave after one year of continuous employment. The duration of annual leave increases with the length of service, reaching up to 26 days for employees with 15 years or more of service. It is important to note that this leave is calculated based on the employee's working days, excluding public holidays and weekends.
Employees have the right to take their annual leave at a time that is mutually agreed upon with their employer. Employers are required to inform employees about their annual leave rights and ensure that they take their leave within the specified time frame. If an employee does not take their leave, they are entitled to compensation for the unused days upon termination of their employment. For further details on the rights and regulations surrounding paid annual leave in Turkey, you can refer to the official Turkish Ministry of Labour and Social Security website.
